Minella Premier (Ire) (Shantou) (lot 498) topped the first day of the Goffs UK Spring HIT/PTP Sale at Doncaster on Wednesday.

Consigned by Minella Racing, the 4-year-old gelding went to Jerry McGrath and Nicky Henderson for £400,000. Related to Grade 2 chase winner Function Dream (Ire) (Strong Gale {Ire}), he won his debut at Ballindenisk by 12 lengths.

Another to break £200,000 was Dawn Miss (Ire) (Malinas {Ger}) (lot 486), who sold to Laura Morgan for £220,000. The Monbeg Stables graduate, a full to Listed December H. Hurdle winner Booster Bob (Ire), has a win from two starts to her name.

Rounding out the top three lots was lot 497, Coumeenoole (Ire) (Harzand {Ire}), a member of the Jonathan Fogarty Racing draft. Gerry Hogan Bloodstock and Paul Nolan Racing shelled out £180,000 for the bay gelding, who won his only start at Ballindenisk earlier this month. His dam, the Old Vic (GB) mare Madam Bovary (Ire), won the G1 Aon Novice H. Chase.

The gross was a new record for the first day of this portion of the sale, coming in at £6,813,000. Of the 218 lots sold from 273 offered (80%), 13 made £100,000 or more. The average rose 1% to £31,253 and the median was unchanged at £20,000.
